Chika (logy): Living, Evolving, Cycles Revolving
In a Lincoln Heights A-frame art space beneath wood-beam rafters, I sat on the floor behind a wedge monitor, crisscross applesauce, tuning in to the frequency of the room. It was cozy. The loftiness and shape of the space reminded me of small churches I'd been to in the past. The walls were covered in art, and I thought of all the paintings and portraits throughout time that have lived in churches, and how I believe that art (music included) is one of the closest things to Go

Iman Jordan: Delivering Conscious Contributions
I first heard about Iman Jordan back when he was releasing mixtapes on myspace, going by the stage name Mateo, and signed to Alicia Keys' production team, Krucial Noise, a label imprint on Interscope. His tone was immediately striking, and I can almost remember the first time I happened upon his mixtape cover of In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, (one of my personal favorite songs). It was gentle and pleading at the same time, warm, vintage and familiar, yet so modern and evocati

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: FEAR in the desert 🏜️
FEAR. A new instrumental joint project by Ruban Nielson (UMO) and Jared Mattson (The Mattson 2), who teamed up to write and record the album over the course of just a few days in Palm Springs, CA in the summer of 2024. Inspired by liminal spaces and the distortion within "the American Dream", our journey with FEAR begins with American Eagle.

The Desert Son: Gene Evaro Jr. 🌞
With a voice like a gentle breeze, and an ancient swag that hints he's lived at least a thousand lives, Gene Evaro Jr. embodies the essence of the Southern California desert, but seems to go where the wind takes him. Born into a multi-generational heritage of music and performance, Gene’s creative pulse feels ancestral. The son of a visionary musician-producer father and a compassionate social worker-activist mother, his life has always balanced artistry with empathy. His roo

Foggie Raw: Raw as it gets. 😶🌫️
I first heard this unmistakable tone back in 2022. The Ghanian-born, Maryland raised lyricist found consistent buzz after sampling Alicia Keys "You Don't Know My Name" in his hypnotic, sonically sweet "Psalm 62". With a conversational, intelligent, syncopated flow reminiscent of Andre 3000, Foggie brought it to the stratosphere with the visual below. After years of anticipation, his debut album WITH NO DUE RESPECT is due to drop tonight (2/27/26) at midnight.
